About

Established in 2023

The goal of Feeling Secure is to partner with neighbourhoods to create safer communities by encouraging residents to be proactive in crime prevention and safety. Feeling Secure provides a way for our neighbourhoods to take responsibility for its own safety by getting to know your neighbours and sharing information, thus reducing the opportunity for crime.

We also have private chat rooms to ask your neighbours for help (such as lost pets, lost garbage bins, physical assistance, etc.), discuss community events, and quick access to local Emergency Measures information.

Feeling Secure was created by long-time Sunshine Coast resident, Carson Thompson after the average crime and vandalism statistics started rising in his quiet community.

Currently, Feeling Secure only comprises the Oceanmount community. In the future we hope to have a private community forum for each neighbourhood on the Sunshine Coast. If you are interested in becoming part of this community, please reach out.

How To Become an Oceanmount Community member

How to become an Oceanmount Community member:

Go to the Home page and click on the Register button. Fill out the form with your name, email, phone number, address, and any questions or enquiries you may have.

We will go over your email and contact you – preferably by phone. Once we have confirmed you are a resident of the Oceanmount neighbourhood, you will receive an email from us at oceanmount@feelingsecure.ca. Follow the instructions, change your password, and your account will automatically be created.

Once complete you can browse the forum areas. There is a “start here” area in the private forums, which will give you more details on how to use the community.

How To Include Your Neighbourhood

For those outside the Oceanmount community, go to our Contact page and send us a request to have your neighborhood included. Ideally, with enough interest from your neighbours, we will set up a private community forum for you.
